"The Doug Flutie Jr Foundation for Autism was established by NFL quarterback Doug Flutie." (Doug Flutie Jr Foundation for Autism.) A hero must show that he or she determined and caring. Doug Flutie has been determined his whole life. A hero must also show that they care about others. Doug Flutie cares about people with autism, especially families with autism . Doug Flutie's determination led him the NFL, from there led him to start the Doug Flutie Jr Foundation for Autism. Doug's life has been talked about ever since his college football days in Boston.

Doug Flutie is a hero because of his determination of being great. Determination is what people strive for. It brings a need for greatness. Being the smallest player to ever play quarterback, he didn't care about his height; all he did was be the best player he could be, he succeeded by doing so. "Aware that his 5-foot 9-inch height would prevent him from being considered a suitable candidate to play in the National Football League (NFL), Flutie signed a contract with the New Jersey Generals of the upstart United States Football League (USFL) instead." (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica). Doug's height didn't bother him while playing, because of his of determination. His determination is an important trait for a hero because if they did not have determination, then their accomplishments would not have been achieved. The need for success give people hope of doing good in the world, so they can feel better about themselves and others.

Doug Flutie supports autism because some families cannot afford to support themselves with the cost of autism. Doug has not only helped his son with autism, but has helped families with autism by starting the Doug Flutie Jr Foundation for Autism. "The Doug Flutie Foundation for Autism was established in 1998 in the name of their son Dougie, Jr to help less-fortunate families who have children with autism." (Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism) Supporting autism is really helpful because it helps people understand exactly what autism does to you. Autism makes life hard for people with it, but the foundation tries to make easier for most of the families with autism. Doug cares about others, not just himself and his family. Doug Flutie is a hero because of his determination and his support of autism.

Doug Flutie has helped a lot of people everywhere he has been. Wherever he went, everyone has known him as a hero, whether it was at Boston College, the NFL, or the foundation for autism. He is an inspiration because he started something that can help people for a long time. The most important thing about Doug Flutie is that he is a hero of many things.
