A hero is a person who makes good things and helps persons, like the poor and needy. For me Jorge Luis, David Gilmour , born March 6, 1946, in Cambridge, is a hero because he inspired me to start playing guitar, and he has raised funds for people.

He started learning guitar at lunchtime with his friend Syd Barret. After learning, about some years later he went through Europe giving concerts. Then he was asked to join Pink Floyd, by his friend Syd, along with Roger Waters the person who made up Pink Floyd.

He was one of the lead guitarists. Some years after Syd his dear friend turned crazy and some years after he died, Roger assumed the lead and wrote almost all of the songs in the album The wall and The Dark Side of the Moon, but then Roger left and Gilmour faced a crisis. The band almost completely disappeared but he prevailed.

In the late years he started a foundation for the help of the poor and the ones with hunger; he received awards for his solo at Comfortably Numb that is cataloged as the best solo till now. The Rolling Stone magazine made this categorization, so it is consider to be verifiable because this magazine is a very good and trusty one.

He is a hero for many people, because in a way he helped more than 100000 people to eat and have good clothes, due to his concert where he raised funds to help the needy, so by that he helped many people. By this concert he gained nearly two million dollars; all were donated to a foundation to help needy people.
