Everyone has a hero or a person
that they look up to in life. That person does not necessarily have to be
heroic to anyone else, they really only need to be looked up to as a hero or as
an inspiration by one person. For me, personally, I look to Duff Goldman as my
hero, but it is not because he saves lives. I look to Duff as an inspirational
hero because of his carefree, happy attitude and his abilities that he has to
make thousands of people happy. Even though I have not been able to meet him in
person yet, I do not think my view of him will ever change.
Duff Goldman is a pastry chef who works in his
own cake shop called Charm City Cakes in Baltimore,
Maryland. He had a show on Food
Network for a few years that was called Ace of Cakes, which was a show of what
went on in his store everyday. The show did not film him and his teammates
working on normal one or two tiered cakes though; they only filmed the amazing,
huge, and mind blowing cakes that were actually ordered for an event or party.
The cakes that he made on his show were shaped and sculpted cakes, and each one
would be mostly edible. They would also show when they delivered the cakes, and
being able to see the happy and astonished faces of the people getting the
cakes was great. This is actually one of the reasons I find him to be a hero. He
might not be saving lives or something like that, but he is making peoples'
lives a little brighter by making one of their special occasions even more
memorable than it would have been.
Personally, I find that making someone's life a little better and more rewarding than just saving them. They are not just happy to be alive; they are also able enjoy their lives to a more unique extent, which is enlightening. That is my point of view and what I want to do once I am done with college, so for me, just him having the ability to make people happy makes him a hero. Another reason he is a hero to me, which may seem a little un-hero like, is that he is happy with himself and in what he does for a living. There are not that many people that like their job now days because it can be repetitive or tedious; with Duff his career never seems boring. The reason for his job never being boring is that he works with his friends; they also enjoy doing the same thing he does, baking and pastry art.
Even though everyone has a
different perspective on what they find to be a hero it does not mean that
theirs is any better than another's hero. This is one of the reasons why the
term hero is so broad, because if everyone thought of what a hero was the same,
everyone would most likely have the same hero. I find that my hero, Duff
Goldman, might not be the typical hero, but really does that matter? A hero is
a hero no mater who they are. So long as one person looks to them as a hero,
they are one.
