My hero is Dallas Green. Green is a hero to me because, for everything he does, he puts his heart and soul into it, and will always give it all that he’s got.

Dallas was born September 29, 1980 in St. Catharine’s, Ontario, Canada. Though Dallas was born on September 29, he had gone without a name for almost a year because his mother wanted to name him Graham-Todd Green, but his father was a big Philadelphia Phillies fan during the 1980 world series and when they won they then decided to name him after the teams famous pitcher/manager Dallas Green. Dallas is a famous singer/song writer as well as also being a talented guitarist. Green is also a fairly talented skateboarder, and has been interested in it since he was 8 years old. He is also a fan of basketball, and considers himself to be a “hardcore fan” of the former WWE wrestling star Razor Ramon.

Dallas Green has been in many bands since he started his career in music. Although he has become famous from his post- hardcore band Alexisonfire which released their first album in 2002 to called Alexisonfire, and has released another 4 albums up to the year 2010 since then. In 2004 he released his first album Simple Songs as a solo artist under the name City and Colour. Since then City and Colour has released 5 more albums including another 4 live albums. Also through City and Colour, Dallas has won a Juno award in 2009 for Songwriter of the Year.

Dallas is now 30 years old and still has a home in St. Catharine’s, Ontario. Though he has been on tour he started his career as City and Colour. Green attended Dennis Morris High School in St. Catharine’s. He is now married to his wife Leah Miller, who his the host for both So You Think You Can Dance Canada and etalk. He has always been quite ambitious with his music. He started writing his own music and singing when he was at the young age of thirteen. Even before he was in his post-hardcore band Alexisonfire, he was in a small band called Helicon Blue. This band actually ended up producing several songs and recorded two self-title releases through Distort Entertainment.

The reason that I chose Dallas as my hero was for many reason, but mainly because he is my favorite singer/song writer. I am a big fan of both Alexisonfire and City and Colour. Green is also a very down to earth person even though he has become one of the best if not the best musician to be born and raised in Canada. His songs all have meaning and are stories from his life which makes him brave and outgoing, and these are both big traits that I think every hero needs to have. He is also very dedicated to everything he does, included of course his music, but also things like his skateboarding and his love for basketball.

So in conclusion, I think that Dallas Green is a hero. His love for music and his passion for success make him an overall great person. Also that he has stayed loyal to the place he grew up in. He may not have saved anyone's life or broken a world record, but he has still been a nothing but positive influence on the musical society. For these reasons and many more I believe that Dallas Green is most definitely a Canadian Hero.
