Diane Julius

by Ben from St. Louis

What is a hero? A hero is often thought of as a person that saves the world from destruction, but they can also be regular people like Diane Julius. They can be someone who helps a child cross the street or someone who helps an elderly person in their home. Diane is this kind of person. She helps people whenever she has a chance. Her family instilled these qualities in her when she was a kid.

When Diane was a kid she had a good childhood. There were five girls and two boys in her family. She was the second oldest of all the kids. She went to St. Martin of Tours Elementary School. She achieved good grades, and also played sports, such as softball and volleyball. She was actually pretty good at first base. After graduation from eighth grade, she went to St. Anthony's High School. This is when she met Kevin Julius.

Diane and Kevin met at a party in their junior year of high school. Joe Ziegler was one of Kevin's friends when he introduced him to his sister; Diane. They dated through the rest of high school and college, and were married on September 22nd, 1990. They have been married for seventeen years. After their first year of marriage, they decided to have a baby. The couple then had their first child on their second wedding anniversary. After him they had four more children. Diane has contributed greatly to everyone's lives in the family.

Many things make Diane a hero. She is somehow able to take care of five kids, while also having a part-time job. She is very involved in St. Martin of Tours Elementary School and Parish. She has organized their parade for the last three years. She has also been the treasurer for both the Cub Scouts and the Christian Mother's Club for the last four years. Diane is very caught up in her children's lives. She drives them to sports practices and games almost everyday of the week. She also makes sure they keep up in their academic studies as well. When she went camping with her family they decided to go to the beach. On her way there, an older man asked for her help. He needed someone to put sunscreen on his back. Diane took the time out of her day just to help him. This is the kind of person that Diane Julius is.

My hero is someone who will help people when they need it. This is why Diane Julius is my hero. She sacrifices so much of her time to help people. She is also passing these traits on to her children. She tries to set as many examples for them as possible. Diane is my hero and she always will be my hero.
