Imagine heavily walking through a dense forest. The sickness you have is overwhelming. It is a scorching day. This jungle seems to never end. You slowly walk and keep going. Suddenly, a bright light opens up as you step out of the jungle. A great waterfall looms over the cliff you are standing on. For a minute, you think, all the walking was worth it. I think David Livingstone is a hero because he shows courage, endurance, and perseverance. He keeps going despite that sickness and discouragement are weighing him down. Nothing can stop him from speaking the true word of God. Although he was said to only convert one village, his missionary work and determination was extraordinary. Only God could have given him that strength. He goes around preaching to the villages the passes by and tells them about the true word of God. He sheltered at villages for a couple days then kept on with his journey. He let God guide him and he had complete trust for God. He did not force the tribe Chiefs to believe the word of God, because they had their own choice.

First of all, David Livingstone shows his courage while he explores northern Africa. He was the first European to see Mosi-oa-Tunya. He named it Victoria Falls after the queen. David also was the first Westerner to make a transcontinental journey across Africa. He preached to the villages that he passed by and changed their lives forever

Second of all, David Livingstone shows his endurance while he keeps going when death and sickness face him. His wife died from sickness when she came with him on his missionary journeys.. The Zambezi expedition failed because they could not pass the rapids on the Zambezi River, he failed to seek the source of the Nile River. David would gain support from the LMS (London Missionary Society), and get sent supplies and make more plans for his next journey.. His most famous quote is: "I am prepared to go anywhere, provided it be forward." He got a very severe fever but kept going.

Lastly, David Livingstone shows his perseverance when he fights his sickness. When he got there, he was healthy and eager.. But, when he was spending years in Africa, malaria eventually got to him and it made him very ill. He will not leave Africa until his mission is complete. David became extremely ill with jungle fever but kept preaching and exploring the jungle. He did not recover from his sickness since they had poor medicine at the time. He died at the village of Ilala from malaria and internal bleeding

David Livingstone was a brave, courageous explorer and missionary of Africa. He dedicated his life to explore Africa and preach to the villages. He was a true hero. If you were David Livingstone, would you keep going - despite all the dangers and threats that he faced?
