Debbye Turner

A hero is someone who is brave, who tries to get what she wants accomplished and who succeeds. My hero is Debbye Turner, Miss America 1990, because she is an inspiration to all people. She influenced people to do what they wanted to and try. She is a good role model for people trying to pursue their dream. That is what a hero is to me.

I think Debbye Turner is brave because even though her family didn’t have that much money, she got a job to help her earn more money for veterinarian school. She didn’t end up making enough money. She later worked at a vet to get the experience of becoming a veterinarian. Debbye loved animals. In her house she had a lot of dogs, cats, hamsters, and turtles. Whenever she saw an animal getting hurt, she would cry and cover her eyes. She hated when animals were getting hurt. That’s why she wanted to become a veterinarian. That’s why I think Debbye Turner is brave.

Debbye Turner tried to get what she wanted accomplished by pursuing her dreams. Since she wanted to become a veterinarian, it took a lot of time and work. Her family didn’t have much money, so she went into the Miss America pageants. She did end up winning her first year of doing it. She won a lot of money, but didn’t win enough to go to the college she’d dreamed of attending.

Debbye succeeded because she got a scholarship. She went to the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine and it took a lot of hard work. She spent 20 hours in labs and classes, with less time for sleeping. She made good grades. After she was done with college, she did the Miss America Pageants again and still became a veterinarian like she dreamed.

Debbye Turner is a hero because she is a brave, she reached for her goals, and she succeeded. She is an inspiration to a lot of young girls that have the same problems as Debbye. What Debbye did was extremely hard. She still succeeded. Debbye is a true hero.
