Colt McCoy was born on September 6, 1986 in Hobbs, New Mexico to (father) Brad McCoy and (mother) Debora McCoy.  He actually lived in Texas near the border of New Mexico.  His father knew of no hospital nearby so he took his wife into New Mexico and their first son Colt was born.  His father named him Colt because he wanted his name to be unique.  Colt grew up on a house with huge amounts of land in the country.  His father taught him to be a Christian.  His dad was the coach of the Varsity football team. Colt loved watching the football team practice, but there was one position that appealed to him the most, that position was quarterback.  He loved the thought of being the leader of the team.  Although his dad loved sports and knew Colt was very athletic, he did not let him play football.  He did not let him play football because he did not want the inexperienced coaches in the leagues to feed him the wrong information.

As Colt got older he became involved in charity and helping hospitals and nursing homes.  He also became the starting quarterback of his dad's football team.  He took them to the Championship, but lost by little points.  On nights that there were parties and he knew there would be drinking, he would invite his friends and anyone that wanted to come to go play some football with him and go watch a movie instead of going to the party.  The next year in football Colt was the starting quarterback again.  He inspired his teammates to work out just by working out himself.  He started working out because he wanted to get a scholarship to a college, he hoped UT because he had made a promise that he would be the starting quarterback for the University of Texas.  His dad told him if he got a scholarship to UT he would buy him a new truck.  Colt took him seriously on his offer and started training hard to get into UT.  He had scholarship offers from Texas A&M and Baylor too but he was still waiting on the offer from the University of Texas.  Finally, after waiting for a while there was an offer from Texas for a scholarship.  Colt and his family drove to Austin, Texas, where the college was centered, and met Coach, Mac Brown, head coach of the Longhorns.  His office overlooked the football field.  A beautiful view really. The coach told him he would be red shirted, he'd sit out to learn more before he started.  Colt accepted his offer, he was red shirted and watched Vince Young play and take the Horns to the BCS National Championship, and win it.  Vince gave Colt good advice while he was there.  Vince left for the pros before he finished college.  So a problem faced Mac Brown.  Who is our starting quarterback?  He chose Colt.  Colt progressively got better until he was fit to be a college quarterback.  His first year he had over 2,570 passing yards.  He is doing so well because of his cousin and his natural ability to play football.  His cousin was Jordan Shipley, Colt's number one receiver and cousin.  They would dominate the defense by passing to Jordan letting him do the rest.  Colt would throw it right into Jordan's chest, Jordan would catch it and juke out all the defenders in front of him.  It was perfect.

Colt had a good time at Texas he encouraged his teammates and made a good team leader.  He eventually  bought a house in the country near Austin with a lot of land with his cousin and one of his teammates.  One night a drunk came over while colt was sitting on the couch and he had a gun.  He wanted to kill Colt.  Colt thought one thing you don't do is mess with some country boys when they have shotguns.  Well, the cops came and took him away.  On Colt's last year he took them to the BCS national championship.  He got hurt within the first ten minutes of the game though.  They ended up losing by a few points.  They would have won with Colt in there but whatever happened happened.  Colt didn't cry though he said he would get his big moment later.

Colt later got drafted by the Cleveland Browns.  He was the starting quarterback for them even though he was a rookie.  He picked up his receivers and linemen and had a good year, in general.  He had good games and bad games.  His parents were extremely proud of him.  He kept a good Christian lifestyle and married a Christian woman.  He put his heart into everything he did.  He never got negative, he always tried to find positives in the situation he was in.

I look up to Colt McCoy because he inspires me to be my best and live life like a Christian.  He has been my role model ever since I was six.  I want to be loving, caring, and beneficial like him.
