Donald Driver grew up in Houston and spent part of his childhood homeless, at times using a U-Haul trailer for shelter. In his early years he was introduced to poverty at a very young age. His family lost their possessions to a collection agency and his father to the prison system. When he was a teenager he stole cars so he could sell them to chop shops and get money for them, he dealt drugs. Driver claims that his whole life changed in one day from stealing a car, to college and then to the Packers. He made it to Alcorn State, from which he was drafted in the seventh round in 1999.

He was drafted in the seventh round by the Green Bay Packers in 1999. He was the thirteenth person to be drafted by the Packers. He also had the number thirteen and he thought he got it because he was the thirteenth receiver. After a few years he changed his number to eighty, which he is now. Coach McCarthy says that "Donald is a mentor to the team." Driver says he hopes to play longer than his contract which pays him $9.6 million through the 2012 season. Donald said "I don't know why people have said that I was going to retire? My goal has always been that I was going to play until I'm 40. So I'm still going to play. I feel good. I feel like I haven't lost anything."

Donald Drivers dad was beaten by Houston, Texas, police officers as they arrested him for an outstanding traffic violation. On Dec. 5, Driver took his wife to her first Packers game. "She isn't a huge Packers fan, and like many other wives, would probably rather watch Paula Deen whip up green bean casserole." "At the same time, she does have one favorite Packers player - Donald Driver, who on this particular Sunday provided about as many fireworks as a July 4 celebration."

"The Donald Driver Foundation is now taking submissions for The Donald Driver Foundation Scholarship, given to students in Mississippi, Texas, and Wisconsin. Ten scholarships of $1000 each will be awarded annually. It is without a doubt that the future of America is in the hands of our youth. We need to not only love and care for our children, we need to educate them. The Donald Driver Foundation understands that not all children are given the opportunities to get an advanced start on their education."

I have chosen Donald Driver to write a biography on because in my opinion he went somewhere with his life and he went from poor to "rich." Donald went to college and got a scholarship for football. He is an example to the littler kids that it doesn't matter if you're poor or rich, or black or white, things you dream of can come to pass, just strive for it, work hard to achieve it. IT CAN HAPPEN!
