My hero is Derek Jeter. He is a great baseball player that I would like to meet. Derek is my hero because he has inspired me to work hard at baseball. Obviously, he worked very hard to get were he is at today, and someday I hope to be just like him.

Derek Jeter was born June 26, 1974 In Pequannock, N.J. Pequannock, only thirty miles away from Yankee Stadium, so Derek quickly became a Yankee fan. After spending a few years of his life in New Jersey, his family moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan. Derek Jeter was multi-talented because he played on the basketball team in high school and on the varsity baseball team as a freshmen. My hero makes a difference in the world by inspiring kids like me to practice baseball to achieve great things.

Derek Jeter plays for the New York Yankees. He plays shortstop and is one of the best shortstops of all time. As a shortstop, he has the most base hits that a shortstop has had with around 2,700. The only person that is leading Derek Jeter in base hits on the Yankees (1901-present)is Lou Gehrig with 2,721. By the end of this year's season, it is expected that Derek will have the most hits by a Yankee of all time. The people that speculate on how many hits a player will have think that Derek will join the 4,000 hit club with Pete Rose and Ty Cobb.

Derek Jeter and I are alike because we both love baseball, love to play shortstop, and want to improve at the game every day. Derek inspires me because whenever something is hard to do, I think that someday I could be as great as him. Derek Jeter serves as a hero for me because he is my favorite baseball player, he seems like a great guy, and he inspires me to work hard and try my best.

Derek Jeter is a great baseball player and my hero. Hopefully, I will become as good as him someday. I know that if I work hard and never give up, I can achieve great things in my lifetime.
