Danny Macaskill Riding At A Whole Different Level (http://www.jossles.com/danny-macaskill-rides-level/ (unnamed source)) |
When someone mentions the word "Hero", I think of a person who can live out his own dreams. It is difficult to make dreams come true but for some people it seems easy. They made it on their own; they stand up for what they believe in and they do it. They are successful. One of them is a Scot Danny MacAskill. He was born on December 23rd, 1985 and he was raised in Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. He is an extraordinary person - he is a professional street trials rider (for Inspired Bicycles Ltd). He does things which we can only dream of doing with bikes!

Danny MacAskill Way Back Home (http://theinspirationroom.com/daily/2010/danny-macaskill-way-back-home/ (Duncan)) |
Two years ago he was just a guy working a nine-to-five job as a mechanic in an Edinburgh bike shop, developing his vision of what was possible to do with a bicycle in the hours after work. In March 2009, he took a risk and left his job to pursue riding full time. He was very brave to leave a job because of cycling. I really respect that: he stopped doing what he had to so that he could realize his dreams. He is my great role model because he has big expectations. In April 2009, his roommate, D. Sowerby, released a great video: MegaSkill is flipping, leaping and balancing across Edinburgh's famous buildings, parks, and back alleys on his bike. No one has ever seen a bike ridden like that. That is why Danny MacAskill is my hero. And maybe right now Danny is traveling across Scotland looking for the perfect trick in the ideal location.

"I never had the goal of being a professional rider, I just wanted to ride my bike," said Danny MacAskill. He had a dream and a vision, courage to pursue his goal and he became a role model to many young people showing them that an "old" sport can have an innovative approach.
