To be a hero you have to do something extraordinary, but a hero doesn’t have to be like a hero you may see on television or in movies. A hero can be seen as a ordinary person like you and me. A hero can be male or female, short or tall, young or old, but my hero is someone who is hidden in the shadows of her husband. The hero I chose is Dana Reeve, yes people only know her as Christopher Reeves' wife but she more then a wife but a real hero.

Dana Morosini was born on February 19, 1961 in Scardale, New York. She lived with her mother Helen and father Charles and two sisters, Adrienne and Deborah. In 1984 she graduated from Middlebury College and attended California Institute of the Arts. Dana sang in a cabaret act in the Williamstown Theater in Massachusetts where in 1987 she found the love her life, Christopher Reeves. Later in 1992 they married and a few months later had their son William. The family lived a story like life until her husband was paralyzed in a horse riding accident. Dana took the role of taking care of her husband and always being by his side and being there for him. She continued her career in acting but took part in charitable work with her husband and created the Christopher Reeves Foundation to help others with disabilities.

Dana was a caring woman always being there for her husband and for her son. Being brave even though her husband died and her mother died shortly after Chris. She's a generous person by taking time to find a cure for people with disabilities. She is a loving mother to her son and a loving wife to her husband. A loving person to her son and husband and taking time after her husband's death to still help others who needed the help.

When her husband died on October 10, 2004 of a heart failure she became the chairperson of the Christopher Reeve's Foundation. She became an author writing books and soon started winning awards like Mother of the Year Award and American Image Award. Then yet again her life changed when her mother died just a few months after her husband. Her life was turned upside down

But sadly only a few months later after her husband death she announced she had lung cancer. She died only seven months after her husband. She was sadly missed by thousands. Dana never accomplished her life's work. She never became a big movie star like her late husband but she became far more. Dana reeves continued what she and her husband had created she helped thousands with spinal cord injuries and paralyzed people.

Dana Reeves is a true hero she has shown that she can still lead a normal life even though she has lost two of the most important people in her life. She has shown that she can still live life like a normal person have a job have a family. She has shown people that she has held a full time job take care of her disabled husband, be a full time mom and run her late husband foundation she is what I call my hero.
