Denzel was born in Mount Vernon, New York on December 28, 1954. His parents' professions shaped Denzel's early ambition to go into show business. From his father, a Pentecostal minister, he learned the power of performance. His mom was a hairdresser and time spent at her salon listening to stories gave him the love of storytelling.

When he went to San Francisco he won a scholarship to the American Conservatory Theatre. He starred as activist Steve Biko in Richard Attenborough's "Cry Freedom" in 1987, and his powerful performance earned him a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination.

In 1992 he starred in Spike Lee's "Malcolm X" (for which he received a Best Actor Oscar nomination) but did not get it until he starred as a corrupt cop in "Training Day".

Denzel Washington completed his dreams by becoming an actor. His mind developed to become one of the best actors in Hollywood. When he speaks he speaks with power. His voice stands out from all the rest that he acts with. If he were to do a movie with Anthony Hopkins and Al Pacino that would be the best movie ever winning more Oscars then "The Lord of The Rings".

He is one of the best actors out there. Even if most of the world does not recognize him, I do. I am a person who watches movies all the time. I love movies and acting. I know when someone is a good actor and Denzel is more than an actor. When he acts it feels like its reality and I am right there in the scene. He makes the fiction of the movie something more. No matter if it is a stage or set he brings the performance to life.
