Ki Hajar Dewantara

I think one of my heroes who has had a big influence on me---on everybody in Indonesia ---especially for teachers and students in Indonesia--- is a Hero of Education. His name is KI HAJAR DEWANTARA, Because of his dedication for Education in Indonesia, he is called "The Father of Education." He never felt hopeless fighting and moving forward education for all in Indonesia. So I choose him to be "MY HERO"........

R.M. Suwardi Suryaningrat better know as Ki Hajar Dewantara, was born in 2 May 1889 in Yogyakarta. After he completed his school ELS ( Elementary School Dutch), he continued his studies at STOVIA ( School Doctor Bumiputera), but doesn't finish because he became sick.

Then he wrote for newspapers like Sedyotomo, Midden Java, De Express and Utusan Hindia. Because his articles, R.M. Suwardi was sent/deported to Holland.

When he returned back from deportation, Ki Hajar Dewantara founded Taman Siswa School on July 3, 1929. The teachers tried to inculcating nationality in their protege soul. Governmental of Dutch hinder him by releasing Wild Ordinance School at 1 October 1932. But Ki Hajar Dewantara obstinately fought for his rights, so that ordinance can be abstracted. After the freedom epoch, Ki Hajar Dewantara took hold of as Minister of Education, Instruction And Culture. His died in 26 April 1959 in Yogyakarta and was buried over there. Until now and forever...... he always become "MY HERO"
