"Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars" -Serbian Proverb

A North Star is a known as a way to move in the world, something looked to when you’re lost, or even when you’re found. It is also symbolizes leadership, a way to know where to go. Exactly like a hero. My North Star is Princess Diana of Wales, better known as Lady Di. Born in Sandringham in Norfolk, England on July 1st, 1961. Even from the start she was a good person, later to become Princess of Wales and a remarkable humanitarian. Possessing the qualities of a hero, dedication and values, gave her even more popularity in the eye of society. And any hero should have virtues and devotion.

Lady Diana’s principles showed through her thoughtfulness and compassion in her work, all in effort to make life better for everyone. She admired the strength it took to go through these events and put her efforts into showing her appreciation. “She became involved in social issues such as homelessness and drug abuse, visited leprosarium’s in Nigeria and Indonesia, shook hands with patients in an AIDS ward at a Middlesex hospital, and even comforted victims of an Irish Republican Army bombing in Northern Ireland ”(“Diana”). She loved these people and hated what they went through and wanted them to know it, and make it better. All things she did through the kindness of her heart, and sacrificed her own time doing so. And she even found a way to give more with her own touch. “In June 1997 an auction of seventy-nine of Diana's evening gowns at Christie's in New York brought in more than $5.7 million for AIDS and cancer charities” (“Diana”) All the proceeds had gone to the selected causes, giving the opportunity to study cures. Giving up the dresses dear to her, exemplified compassion and sacrifice in its truest form. And this increased the people's love for her, making her passion pay off.

Diana poured every thought and last drop of effort into her work, and through her determination and inspiration is still done today. She dedicated herself to the work she did and becoming a better person through it, hopeful to inspire those around her. “She often stopped by an AIDS hospice in London to pay unofficial, unpublicized visits to the residents” (Diana). The trips inspired the people she visited to keep fighting, even when it looked hopeless. She was one of the first people to have her picture taken with an AIDS patient, showing people they were not contagious, contrary to popular belief. That was only the beginning of her work; she went much farther to raise awareness and funds to help. “Descriptions such as the "people's princess" or the "queen of hearts" reflect the supranational and almost universally applicable meaning Diana had acquired by the time she died.” She put the passion into people’s hearts to help in any way possible; she became a leader to her people. Lady Di aroused compassion in people’s souls, and used that fuel to set fire to a wild fire of dedication to ensure a better life. And even when she died in a tragic car accident, her work continued as several funds and charities been created in her honor.

Lady Di had the dedication and values a true hero has, and used them to help. Her dedication shined in all her work, fueling her passion to help. The memory of Diana creates a driving passion to help others, she pushes you to be the best and better. Lady Diana created all you could ever want in a hero, earning her the biggest brightest star in the sky.
