Diego Maradona

Born on October 30, 1960 in the gehtto of Villa Fiorito in the outskirts of Buenos -Aires. Diego Maradona form is outstanding soccer talent he was nicknamed "El pibe de oro" or the golden boy. "His first leauge of soccer was with the Argentinos Juniors, then joined Boca Juniors and led the Argentina youth team to win the world cup in 1979"(http://www.vivadiego.com/indexeng.html). After the 1982 world cup in Spain, he joined Barcelona and played in Spain for two seasons. "In 1984 he contracted with Napoli and won two Italian Championships in the season of 1986/87 and 1989/90, a Coppa Italia (1987), an UEFA cup (1989) and a Supercoppa Italiana (1990)"(http://www.vivadiego.com/indexeng.html). He was the hero of Argentina's pride in Mexico 1986 World Cup since he led the team to the final victory. He then went to Spain to play for Sevilla and then back to Argentina with Newell's Old Boys. Then, after a pair of coachings in Argentina, he came back to Boca Juniors.

Maradona was an athlete god for the city of Naples. He was the man who took the Naples team to win its first title! They beat Northern Italy and for the first time in the history of Italian soccer a Southern team won the Scudetto! It was a real event in Naples and everywhere in the city of Naples there were banners, pictures and flags.

Diego scored many beautiful goals, such as the one against Sampdoria with a diving header, or the one against AC Milan when he dribbled past two defenders scoring from the penalty line! Maradona scored 10 times in 29 matches and he was the top goal scorer of Napoli. Nopoli won the title for that season.

Diego Maradona was by far my favorite soccer player that I have ever known. To me he has accomplished the most in a single career of soccer. I will always look up to him as a god like figure in the art of soccer. Diego Maradona is my hero in the respect that he pushed him as far as he could to get himself to where he wanted to be. He represents the line of perfec in the soccer world and no one has taken that away from him. He is my driving force to be the best that I can. If he can do it then I can too.
