Walt Disney was more than just an artist. He was a visionary in the art of imagination. Without the time, effort, and passion he put into the invention of animation, the extent of family entertainment would not be the way it is today.
Walter Elias Disney accomplished many things in his days. In August 1923, he and his brother Roy, began a studio in Hollywood. In November 1928, Mickey Mouse was created in the show, "Steamboat Willie" which was the first fully-synchronized sound cartoon. This was the beginning of fame for the characters as well as the artist. Walt Disney contributed 43 years to his business in Hollywood. He earned 48 academy awards along with 7 Emmys for his admired works.
Living in California, Walt Disney had a vision for creating a world of wonder and magic. Part of his vision was to create a place where you could go and sometimes escape the harsh realities of our everyday lives. When you see Disney’s animated works for the first time, you are able to find or rediscover a sense of your inner-child self. By opening up Disney Land, this broadened the experience for many people because not only are you seeing it, but you are living it.

Before his death, he started a school of fine arts in California for those with fascinating talents yet to be discovered. His creative genius and love for art paved the way for future artists. Though he never lived to see the completion of Disney Land, I think in his mind he envisioned that it would continue to expand and be enjoyed for many generations to come.
By December 15, 1966, Walt Disney passed away. One of his last quotes leaves a lasting legacy to future generations of aspiring artists.
"It's the principal thing I hope to leave when I move on to greener pastures. If I can help provide a place to develop the talent of the future, I think I will have accomplished something."

Walt Disney is important to me because he helped me to understand and realize that by using your imagination, you can change your outlook on life and create a world of your choosing. I fell in love with his work because it was so brilliant and unique. It is an exciting part of life to discover and he has really touched the hearts of millions. Walt Disney will always be my hero because I admire his artistic and imaginative ability to add another world filled with so much excitement.
