Walt Disney is one of my heroes because he enjoyed entertaining the public. He didn’t care about being famous; he just wanted to make people laugh. He worked hard to make each cartoon special, and brought a touch of magic to his cartoons, which made them famous and loved by many people.

Walt Disney

Walt Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1901. He was one of five children. He had early interests in art, and somtimes sold drawings to his neighbors to make extra money. In school, he would often doodle, instead of doing his school work.

Mickey Mouse

He pursued his art career, and became an artist while also becoming a businessman. He received a contract to draw cartoons, and got his big break in 1928, when he created Mickey and Minnie Mouse, cartoons that are still widely know today. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs took three years to make, but it was worth it, because the movie became a favorite of many children. Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo and Bambi, were his next great hit movies. Many others came after. On July 13, 1925, Walt married Lillian Bounds, one of his first employees. They had two daughters, and were a happy family.

Walt Disney had a dream of creating a clean and organized amusement park, and to the delight of children around the world, Walt’s dream came true. Disney Land was opened in 1955. It was exceedingly popular.

Before his death in 1966, Walt purchased land in Florida, where he hoped to create another amusement park, Disney World, but he died before the park was completed.
