Walt Disney was born in Chicago Illinois. He was born on December 5 1901. He was part of a family of five. Walter Elias Disney had one sister and three brothers. His parents' names were Elias Disney and Flora Call Disney. His father was Irish Canadian and his mother was German-American. The Disney family was raised on a farm in Missouri and later moved to Kansas. In 1918 Walt tried to join the Military but was rejected for being too young. He later went to France and joined the American Red Cross. There he drove an ambulance.
Walt Disney has done a lot of amazing things in his life. He pursued a career in commercial art, raised a family and built the very impressive Disneyland. When Walt was young he loved trains. As a child he would go to the train track and put his ear on them. He did this to listen for trains. Later on Walt married one of his employees. Her name was Lillian Bonds. They wed on July 13, 1925 in Lewiston, Idaho. Together they had two daughters. The reason he built Disneyland was because he thought that parks were too dirty and thought the parents had no fun. To solve this problem he built a theme park where the whole family could have fun.
Walt Disney is a hero to me because he was a nice, caring man who loved to have fun. He created many characters that the world has known to love. Without the beloved Mickey Mouse and his great carefree Goofy the world would not know how to have as much fun and just let loose to the characters they loved as children.
Some characteristics of Walt Disney… are he always put himself before others, worked well with others, and always sacrificed things for what he believed in. Walt Disney didn’t just think of the theme park for himself, he thought about everybody else too. And thanks to him we all have a place to go to visit our beloved childhood hero. Walt also had to work with a lot of workers when Disneyland was in construction. Another example of him working well with others was when he was designing the many Disney movies he made. Walt sacrificed a lot to build Disneyland. It was a great success but I’m sure there were many challenges for him.
Walt Disney is important to me for his love of cartoons and his example to have fun. He has made a big difference in my life. Every time I go to Disneyland and walk down the cheerful Main Street, all my worries seem to leave. I think that’s what he wanted to achieve when he built Disneyland. A worryless environment where people can go back to their childhoods and relive the memories they remember most. To me when somebody can bring so much happiness to others, he is definitely a hero to me.
