Sir Edward Weary Dunlop

Edward Weary Dunlop was born in Wangaratta, Australia. He worked in a pharmacy before going to Melbourne University for medicine. Soon after graduating World War Two broke put and Edward enlisted.

Edward served in the Middle East and later in South-East Asia, where he was soon captured. He was held prisoner by the Japanese. He and the other prisoners were being made to build the infamous Thai-Burma railway.

After the war, Edward married and raised a family and continued to be a surgeon in Australia and parts of Asia.

in 1976, Sir Edward was named Australian of the year. Sir Edward died in 1993.

Sir Edward Weary Dunlop was a doctor and captain in the royal Australian medical corp in World War Two. He is famous for his good deeds and his compassion for fellow soldiers.
