Eva Galler

"If we bear all this suffering and if there are still Jews left, when it is over, then Jews, instead of being doomed, will be held up as an example."

Eva Galler

My hero is Eva Galler and she is a Holocaust survivor. She was born on January 1, 1924 in Oleszyce, Poland. I chose her because she is brave and she is one of maybe hundreds that actually survived the Holocaust. Eva worked mostly with the tax books because she is the only one who really understood them. Some of the struggles that she overcame was trying to hide herself and not show that she was actually Jewish.

She lived with two different people during the holocaust but they kicked her out in less than a week. She overcame this struggle by living in the train station and trying to find people to live. Eva is 87 and goes to different schools to talk about her experience. One major accomplishment that she made in her life was she escaped from a death train on her way to a concentration camp. Another accomplishment was that she survived on her own with no help from anyone but the people who let her live with them.
