A hero can be anyone; A mom, dad, aunt, friend, favorite author, anyone. My hero is Erin Hunter, the author of the Warriors series. Erin Hunter is actually two different people: Kate Cary, Cherith Baldry; with Victoria Holmes as an editor. I really enjoy her work and I am anxiously waiting for the release of Warriors: Power of Three: Outcast to come out. I want to hear what’s new with Firestar, Sandstorm and all the other characters of these amazing books.
Erin Hunter is inspired by many authors including J.R. Tolkien and J.K Rowling. The places in the stories are based on actual places. The New Forest in England was the setting for the first part of the series and the Scottish Highlands were the setting for the second part of the series. So far, there hasn’t been any talk about a Warriors movie as I had hoped, but more information will be released by the end of 2008.

Kate Cary is 38 years old and has a fascination with animal relationships and interactions, as well as the mysteries behind cats. When it comes to the battle settings that occur in every book, she is not afraid to describe even the goriest scenes. For help with new locations in the books, she and Baldry often go for walks in the UK countryside, walking in forests and mountain trails. Cary has written the books Into the Wild, Fire and Ice, Rising Storm, Dawn, and she is currently working on Power of Three: Outcast.
Cherith Baldry enjoys writing the series because it gives her a cat’s eye view of the world that Firestar lives in. She is also interested in codes of honor, King Arthur and knights in shining armor; all of which are incorporated into the books in the form of the “Warrior Code.” She and Kate Cary both like standing stones, astrology and ancient forms of worship. They use this knowledge to give some life and depth to the cats’ own beliefs in the books. She has written the books Forest of Secrets, A Dangerous Path, The Darkest Hour, Midnight, Moonrise, Starlight, Twilight and Sunset.
Erin Hunter is a hero, not just because of her books, but because of the talent that she has in writing. She has a lot of talent and you can get all of her books pretty much everywhere. I highly recommend this series and I hope that you enjoy it. There are a few sites I recommend to find out more about the books; www.warriorcats.com, www.amazon.com, and the websites listed above. I hope you get the chance to read all of her books because I can’t stop reading them. Erin Hunter is my hero, who’s yours?
