Emily challenged the British North American Act in 1916 to have women treated equally. In 1929 after being shut down by the Supreme Court of Canada, Emily continued her fight for women’s rights and brought her case to the British Privy Council. Throughout Emily’s fight for women’s rights she got shut down multiple times, but she never gave up her fight.
