My hero is Elena Serova. She is a Russian cosmonaut. She became the fourth woman in the history of cosmonautics of the USSR and Russia. On the 26th of September, 2014 the spaceship "Soyuz TMA - 14M" was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrom. It was the first flight of Elena Serova into space, which lasted 170 days. During 6th-month-flight on the ISS Elena Serova blogged about her life aboard the station and experiments conducted there. Elena, as the only lady in the group, was entrusted with the choice to choose a talisman for the crew, and she took a toy, which was given to her by her daughter. It should be noted that a talisman in space flight is not just a sentimental relationship with the family remaining on Earth. Traditionally, these gifts establish a special way to serve as an indicator of weightlessness in space.

Serova was born in Vozdvizhenka, a village which is part of the Easten Russia. She stayed in Vozdvizhenka until 1988. She met her future husband Mark Serov at the Moscow Aviation Institute. They have a daughter.

Serova was one of five cosmonauts selected to raise the Russian flag at the 2014 Winter Olympics opening ceremony in Sochi.

For courage and heroism during a long space flight on the International Space Station she was awarded the title HERO of the Russian Federation. And in September 2016 Elena Serova became the Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
