DONATE

Edward L. Tetrick

by Rebekah from Port Orchard

Don't make your subordinates do anything that you will not do yourself.

Edward L. Tetrick was in the Navy for at least 20 years. He was an aviator and was in Vietnam, and Desert Storm. He is a member of the Presbyterian church. He has earned 15 ribbons while in the Navy. He is retired from the Navy. He is married to Sandy and is a grandfather.

In 1995, he started the Naval Junior Reserve Training Corps at South Kitsap High School. It is called the Wolf Company and has been strong for 11 years now! He started up the program because he wanted high school students to have a sense of pride and accomplishment. He wanted High School kids to have higher standards. He did this because he cares. The SKNJROTC has these extra-curricular activities:
Armed drill team
unarmed drill team
color guards
quiz team
orienteering
strength team
rifle team
and Cannon crew for the football games!

Over the years, the teams won several plaques, certificates and trophies. Several of the cadets won medals at competitions. the armed drill team won second place at the national drill meet in 2000!

The captain is an Officer and Gentleman. He is fair and firm also. He has high standards for his cadets. Talking when he is talking, not doing homework, being absent without excuse, throwing a fit, bad attitudes, shabby looking uniforms, acting dumb, and poor grades DO NOT BECOME HIM OR THE PROGRAM!!! Lying, stealing and cheating are BIG no-nos with him! He is a kind man, but he can come down on you if need be.

I was cadet in Captain Tetrick's program for 3 years. I graduated in 2003. I was on both drill teams and the quiz team. I earned 18 ribbons and 2 medals. One of those medals is for "Cadet of the Month". I made cadet of the month in November of 2001! I also made "platoon honor cadet" at the week-long mini boot camp. I saw Captain Tetrick as my high school mentor. He was my inspiration. He is the real deal.
