Earvin "Magic" Johnson Junior was born on August 14, 1959. In 1980 Magic was drafted in the NBA and in 1987 and 1989-1990 he was named NBA's most valuable player. A hero must possess two qualities one is caring and the other is leadership abilities. Earvin Magic Johnson is a hero because he is caring and a leader.

Magic Johnson is caring because he started his own organization to help people around the world raise money for HIV and aids study. Johnson, after getting diagnosed with HIV, he started helping out and warning others about the dieses. "In 1991 Johnson created the Magic Johnson foundation as a nonprofit public charity to promote HIV and aid awareness."(Basketball hall of famer) This shows how he wants the world to know that aids is around and wants people to avoid it since he couldn't. You can tell how he is not about the money but how he wants to help other people out. Not only has he donated to research about HIV and AIDS but he also donated to schools and communities. "In addition he has provided college scholarships to 800 minorities. He also has invested millions of dollars into urban areas."(Earvin Magic Johnson) You can tell he wants students to have an education even if they don't have enough money so they can be successful with their lives. This also shows you how he wants kids growing up in good neighborhoods and not bad. Not only is Magic a caring person but he is also a leader.

Magic is also a leader because he led his high school, college, and NBA basketball team all the way to the top. Johnson started out in high school playing ball, which was his first step to leadership. "As a high school senior at Everett high school in Lansing Michigan he led his team to the state championships."(Earvin Johnson) This shows how at a young age he was able to rise above everyone and show how much skill he had. He was also able to show how even as a 6 foot 9 point guard he could still dribble the ball and lead his teams to victory. Eventually he was drafted to the Lakers in the NBA and also showed the NBA that he's capable of winning a championship game. "Johnson won 5 national championships with the Los Angeles Lakers and also three MVP awards."(Basketball hall of famer) Not only was Magic capable of playing in high school but he was able to be one of the best to ever play in the NBA. This shows how his leadership traits were able to lead him to victory. Since he is a team leader he was able to show the world how when you play as a team you will come out with success.

Magic is a leader but he also is a caring person. Magic Johnson spent his money to help the study of HIV and AIDS. He has also been a leader by taking his team all the way to the top. Magic is a hero in my eyes not only because he was one of the greatest basketball players ever but because he also cared enough to donate millions of dollars and let people know what diseases are out there. Magic is not only a role model, a caring person or even a leader he is way more than that, he is a hero.
