a kind of role model ...

In the world we live in, there are some people regarded as heroes; these people are commonly admired for what they have done. Many of us have a hero, and we all have our reasons to respect the one who is ours. However, not anybody can be called "hero": for example someone we appreciate, we admire, but who did not really accomplish something great or brave, is he a hero? It seems obvious that he is not, but he can be a role model; namely you like his behaviour, his way of living, and you are trying, consciously or not, to copy this role model.

I respect many personalities, from the past or in the present, for the things they managed to do, but I cannot truly affirm that I have a hero. They are rather role models; let me tell you about one of mine ... Franck Dubosc. Franck is a French comedian; he was born in 1963, in Normandie (France). In his childhood he liked humor, cinema, whatever close to the public. After three months learning English at university, he began to give shows, little humoristic representations, in bars for example. Then he tried the cinema, and left France to try to get famous in England. And here we are! So far, Franck created two big shows, named "Je vous ai pas raconté" ("I didn't tell you") and "Romantique" ("Romantic"), that we can buy on DVD now. He also made two special DVDs, one in 2002 named "Pour toi public" ("For you public") and its second version "Pour toi public 2". I watched both.

Franck also made sketches with another French comedian, Elie Semoun: a lot of short sequences, where they are talking strangely, saying stupid things, making fun of anything, and wearing very weird clothes. I watched all of his DVDs and sketches, and I can swear that I could not help laughing! Recently, he played the main character in the movie "Camping", which is, according to me, a very funny film, making fun of the way people can live in camp-sites.

Franck is a handsome guy, blue eyed, and always smiling; when seeing him (in a show or on screen) he seems so friendly and glad! In his sketches Franck loves to look like a star, a romantic man, a gentleman, or even a jet-set personality, in a word, whatever he is not! For instance in "Pour toi public" we can see him playing many different roles; he is seen as a trendy man, a lover boy, a seductor,... Anyway, he appears to live as a famous man, in his hotel, although it is obvious for us that he is playing a role, and that is what I precisely like; we cannot believe him, and Franck knows it perfectly! The aim is to make people laugh at him because he is intending to appear as someone else, someone he is not! A good example is when he is trying to show us that he often goes to the USA, and that he speaks English fluently, because it is said that "being American is trendy". How funny it is!

In fact, Franck, like many comedians, points out the funniest things we can find in different kind of people, in real life, and he hugely overstates them! His humor is very simple but I think it is efficient; all the more he is able to have funny voices or face expressions. Franck Dubosc is sometimes deemed as not funny; his humor would be too basic, his jokes too foolish, his shows can be regarded as dull representations, ... But I say that he is excellent ! This is the kind of humor we need! It is simple, easy to understand, often representative of what you can see in real life, and overall, it is a nice way to feel joyful at the moment you are watching Franck, after a long working-day for example!

Why do I appreciate him so much ? It is surely thanks to his being sincere: he is an easy-going person, and I am quite sure he is the same in life and on screen. His behaviour is not so different from other people, although he is famous, he would never worry about the life, and he dares to play the fool man; that is why I almost worship him! By the way, I have already tried to imitate him, by playing in some videos, just for fun; so as soon as we have the time, some friends and I intend to make a video named "Pour toi public 3", including the same kind of humor as Franck's. I wish I will be good at it!
