Frederick Jordan

by Cole from Weston

My hero is Frederick Jordan. Fred was my fourth grade teacher, and my friend. He will always be more than a teacher to me, and I wish he didn't have to go so suddenly. On the first day of fourth grade, I thought he was the weirdest person ever. I mean, who keeps a rubber chicken in a bikini on top of the smartboard? Seriously though, who does that? I'll tell you who. Frederick Jordan. He does, and that is one of the many things that makes him unique. In fact, he is the most unique man I have ever met. At the school that I used to go to, most teachers will have students sit down and eat their snacks during snack time. But Mr. Jordan will turn on music and we would have a party! And when our class had free time, he would teach us little dances, our favorite one was "The Banana Dance". At that point, I decided that he wasn't so bad after all.

Now comes the serious part. When I was applying for Fessy, he wrote a long recommendation letter to the school. I can say that without his help, I never would've gotten into Fessy. At the end of the school year, he came up to me and said that I would fit right in to Fessy, and that I would prosper. And then, in September of 2012, Frederick Jordan suddenly died. I knew that he was sick, but I didn't think that we would die, until we got the call. When everyone that was in his fourth grade class heard that he was sick, we all decided to each write a letter to him that says how much we love him, and then we would make a book that had all of the letters. That book never got to him. There was so much I wanted to tell him.

But even though I think about him every day, he will always be in my heart.
