"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." Never before in the history of mankind had there been such a great, inspiring hero as Franklin Roosevelt. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, otherwise known as FDR, broke such boundaries to become an unrivaled hero and American leader. He was born on January 30, 1882, and spent his early years at his family home in Hyde Park. An average student, he was still able to get into Harvard University and later entered Columbia Law School. In an unexpected move during his adulthood, the wise man decided to go into the world of politics like his fifth cousin, Theodore Roosevelt. Although he began to suffer from polio in the 1920s, in 1933, when the Great Depression was plaguing the U.S., the competent man was elected as president. During his career, Roosevelt performed numerous feats and strived to maintain U.S. prosperity. Franklin Delano Roosevelt saved the American people from total financial demise, evinced great leadership and intelligence, and endeavored to create continuous global peace.

Upon being elected as president, FDR proposed an economic solution known as the New Deal, which was designed to bring about millions of Americans back to employment and offer social benefits. With thirteen million unemployed, the American masses despaired from the Depression. "In the first inaugural address to be widely broadcast on the radio, Roosevelt boldly declared that 'This great nation will endure as it has endured, will revive and prosper' (Leuchtenburg)". His ambitious slate of programs and reforms completely changed how the central government operated in the lives of Americans. He also asserted a new bank holiday and communicated with the general public in a series of talks known as "fireside chats". Roosevelt clearly demonstrated a support for good will and moral and desired thriving lives for his fellow American citizens. By showing positive attitude, revealing a strong passion towards goodness, and giving out speeches promoting moral and strong will, the president brought a new era of positiveness in the U.S. Through this, it is precisely shown how FDR rallied his people and used his intellect in various ways in order to benefit the hoi polloi. He is truly an inspiration. Roosevelt demonstrated unique skills through this period and completely transformed America in a very positive way. Franklin Delano Roosevelt boosted the U.S. from a major economic recession, thus helping the American people recover, as he had the heart and intelligence to assist them.

Although the thought of bringing one's own country into a devastating war that killed tens of millions of people is not pleasing to the mind, the astute leader nevertheless engineered a complete paradox to this by making the U.S. entrance into World War II rather salutary. FDR had hinted the American public about the impending threats from the Axis Powers of Germany, Japan, and Italy but abstained from saying that America should end its isolationist policy and enter the war. "Reelected by comfortable margins in 1936, 1940 and 1944, FDR led the United States from isolationism to victory over Nazi Germany and its allies in World War II (Beschloss)." By bringing the U.S. into the Second World War, he helped liberate much of Eurasia from the fascists. To finish it, he contributed to the global peacekeeping organization: the United Nations. Through this, it is seen that Roosevelt had the courage to risk a possibly detrimental war for the sake of his people and in addition the sakes of the people of the world. Meanwhile, he spoke constantly on the radio, reporting war events and rallying the American people in support of the war effort. "This triumph dramatically altered America's relationship with the world, guiding the United States to a position of international prominence, if not predominance (Maranzani)." Roosevelt has certainly brought good to the U.S. as shown in the text. He had defeated a dangerous evil and altered the U.S. so that it would become an international leader. He had defeated a dangerous evil and altered the U.S. so that it would become an international leader. This shows hard work and motivation by him. Roosevelt set himself as a first in history, having taken numerous responsibilities to help his people and the world without deliberately trying to elevate his own political position.

Despite the democratic, capitalist state of the U.S. having a completely different political, economic, and social structure from the totalitarian, Communist state of the USSR, Roosevelt managed to form strong diplomatic ties with the Soviet Union and collaborated on establishing a successful, influential global peace-keeping organization: the United Nations. Even when World War II was ravaging a countless myriad or nations, he played the role of a larger-scale Bismarck. He looked at the war and did not simply decide to ensure Allied victory. In his point of view, "there would be an international venue for nations to resolve their differences without resorting to war (Kaplan)." After the Allied defeat of Nazi Germany, Roosevelt persuaded Stalin, the Soviet ruler, to enter the war against Japan. This shows how Roosevelt was willing to negotiate with a tyrannical dictator for the greater good of the people of the world. He was willing to remain friendly towards nations whose policies were different from those of America's, creating a period of peace and diplomatic talk. All in all, FDR proved to the world that he was a great hero worthy to bear a mark on history.

FDR saved the people of the United States, displayed incomparable intellect and leader-like traits, and devoted himself to ensure the continuing peace. He was a powerful man who inspired many and revolutionized the concept of "hero". Roosevelt's lasting impact influence today's American citizens due to his respect for all people and skill in initiating decisions. President Roosevelt left a significant mark in history as a prominent world leader.
