Felipe

by Dany from Buenos Aires

My hero is Felipe. I chose him because he was a very smart dog because when they trained him, he learned everything very fast. He was also very athletic. He loved to run, play or go for a walk. He was very brave and talented, because he always protected us.

Felipe was my dog, (he died 2 years ago, but we bought another one the same year). He was trained by a German lady, (I can’t remember her name). He was a black Rottweiler, but with light brown paws and tummy, light blue eyes and a chain with a monkey wrench with his name on it.

He lived in my house and had a sister called Camila, but she died 10 months before he did. Camila died because of epilepsy, when she was 13 years old and Felipe was 15 years old when he died of cancer, but, for a dog 15 years is a lot. Camila and Felipe made a very good team.

This year at school, we read a book called “Number the Stars,” that was written by Lois Lowry. The main character of the book is Annemarie, who is a 12 year old girl who lives in Denmark. She is a Christian, but her best friend is Jewish. She is blond, athletic and quick thinking. I think she is a heroine because she didn’t mind the risk she was running, she only wanted to protect Ellen, her best friend. I think that in one way Annemarie and Felipe are very similar, because they were both athletic, quick thinking and very brave.

To sum up I thought it would be interesting to write my essay about my dog, because for me he is an every day hero and I’ll always remember him.
