About The MY HERO Project


The MY HERO Project is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to inspire the hero in all of us by shining a spotlight on real-life examples of people at their best. The three founders are as follows: Karen Pritzker, formerly a magazine editor, works as an advocate for literacy and children's issues. She served as editor for the MY HERO book, published by FREE PRESS, A Division of Simon & Schuster, Inc. in 2005. Rita Stern is an artist and Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker and was an architect of the original MY HERO website. Her artwork is exhibited in fine-art galleries around the country. Jeanne Meyers is a film and multimedia producer who helped develop and has continued to direct the award-winning MY HERO website since its inception in 1995. She is passionate about global storytelling and the use of new technology to effect positive change in the world.

www.myhero.com is a leading site for parents and educators, with its accessible curriculum and user-friendly interactive media literacy tools. The site encourages reading, writing, and computer literacy skills. The site affords an intimate and supportive connection between teachers in disciplines as diverse as English, technology, civics, and science, while also connecting children throughout the nation and the world, making it a valued teaching tool in more than 20,000 classrooms.
