STORIES
Family

Gray Joseph Grayson

by Sophie

Sometimes people don't stop and think how important family is. This is a story of why my brother is my hero. My brother is very talented and doesn't boast or brag. When my brother was born, I didn't know what to expect. I wasn't very kind or happy when we brought him home but if I could change that I would. My brother was named Richard but we call him Gray. Gray's favorite color is green, his favorite food is noodles and his favorite sport is soccer. Gray wants to be an inventor when he grows up. I think he will be great at this job because he is always building crazy contraptions and new things. My brother is witty, intelligent, brave, strong, kind, compassionate and loving. Gray is a big fan of saltwater taffy, which I think is great except for the fact that we never buy it. Those are some things you should know about my brother.

Gray is my hero because he is always there for me when I need help finding a multiplication answer, getting help when I've gotten hurt, and most of all giving me the best gift of a brother to play with. Another thing that shows he is heroic is that he is not only nice to his friends and family, he shows compassion towards other people also. He and I do a lemonade stand every year on Thanksgiving Day and raise money for charity. That shows he cares about people without toys, animals without homes, and for people who are in need of food. He doesn't only care about family and friends. The last thing that shows me Gray is a hero is that he is adventurous at not trying foods but trying new things. Whenever I say, "wow this is fun," he is always there to say," I want to try!" He is a hero to me in many ways but those are just a few.

Gray is similar to the Greek goddess Athena. He is wise, strong, and brave. He is wise because if you ask him, "What is fifty times fifty or twelve times twelve?" he knows it. He is only in third grade and is at almost a fifth grade level in multiplication. He is also strong because he plays many sports and practices pull-ups. Lastly, he is brave because he went down Splash Mountain at Disney world even though he didn't want to at all. I love my brother so much and those are lots of things to know about him.
