George Herman Ruth (Babe Ruth) is my hero because he was a strong person, a phenomenally talented baseball player, and a living legend.
Babe Ruth is a strong person because of all the hardships he went through in his unhappy childhood. His parents worked all the time in a tavern and were never home for him. His parents put him in an orphanage at age 7. Babe's parents never visited him the one day a month they could so he had no family support. Babe had to grow up without a family.
Babe Ruth is one of the most talented players in baseball history. Babe has the all-time record for pitching the longest world series game victory at 14 innings. One of the most famous moments in baseball history was during game five of the 1932 World Series when he "called his shot" to center field and then hit a home run there. Lastly, Babe hit 714 home runs which was a record for 39 years. Babe was an extremely talented player for all his achievements.
Babe is a living legend in baseball today. He is often called by his nicknames, "The Great Bambino" and "The Sultan of Swat." He was one of the first five inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Babe has been awarded several awards since his death, including Athlete of the Century in 1999 and Greatest Player of All Time. Babe Ruth is still a living legend today.
I chose Babe Ruth as my hero because of his strength, talent, and his legend that lives on today. I really enjoyed learning more about his life and history.
