Sting now. (http://www.lyonweb.net/agenda/e/1783/Sting.htm) |
There are many different types of heroes. They come in all shapes and sizes, small or tall. No hero is the same. Some heroes can have super powers, (can think they have super powers), can wear a cape, can be super cocky, can raise a car with one hand, have laser vision, and wear super tight spandex. Well most (normal) heroes don’t do any of that. (I hope) No real hero is like any of the comic book character heroes, they are just fictional characters made up to entertain you. REAL heroes don’t need to be in movies or mentioned in them. My hero was mentioned, but my hero isn’t my hero because of that. REAL heroes are risk takers, really cool, caring while strong willed at the same time, and inspirational. My hero must be strong willed, not care what anyone else thinks, be a risk taker, not necessarily save lives but make people happy, and must enjoy life. My hero doesn’t have super powers, doesn’t wear a cape, defiantly doesn’t wear super tight spandex my hero doesn’t need to.

Sting in 1985 (www.google.com) |
To start off, my hero is Gordon Matthew (Sting) Sumner. Sting is my hero for more than just being famous and being in the best band ever. He has many of the hero traits and characteristics like kindness, being a risk taker, and interested in music.
More importantly, Gordon Matthews (sting) Sumner was born October 2 1951 in Wallsend, North Tyneside. Gordon is a famous singer from the very famous 80’s band THE POLICE. Sting didn’t just sing, but he also plays the guitar and the bass. Sting became a solo artist after THE POLICE broke up. Sting and the band broke up in 1985. After the band, Sting became a superstar.
And, Sting’s Bandmates were Stewart Copland and Andy Summers. But Sting is my hero for more than just his band; his music is amazing and inspirational like “Message in a bottle”. “Message in a bottle” is about being stranded on an island with no way home, but you write a message in a bottle.

The Police in there 2007 reunion tour (http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2007/05/30/the_police_wideweb__470x368,0.jpg) |
In the lyrics, it says “One hundred billion castaways looking for a home” and also “a hundred million bottles washed up on the shore”. It inspired me to try to help people. Some of the band's other songs are inspirational too. You just need to know what the lyrics are.
Also, Sting is also very inspirational for many other reasons. He has become a very big inspiration for helping the environment. Sting has been helping other kids in other countries in any way he can by being in so many organizations. I don’t now know any of the organizations though, but one thing I know is if you are a famous rock star and you give up a lot of your time to help the poor, homeless, sick, and the hurt that shows that you are a good person who is not just a rock star, but is a normal person like every single one of us. This may not look good on my part but I couldn’t find out the organizations he was in to help people.
To continue, Sting is very kind and kid friendly. He is kind and kid friendly because he guest-starred in the new kid’s movie The Bee movie. Apparently he likes kids if he starred in a kid’s movie. Sting is nice for other reasons. Some are he helps people in other countries and he is cool for being in the newly famous guitar hero world tour.
Another way Sting is my hero is because he is a risk taker. He risked his career from being from THE POLICE and he became a solo artist and didn’t even know if his new career would ever take off if he went solo. Sting took that risk because he apparently likes music and performing it. Sting and the band reunited on the popular show Elvis Costello reunion show and they talked about their memories, their thoughts about the band, if they were going to get the band back together, and they played with Elvis Costello at the end of the show. Sting and the old band THE POLICE still sounded as amazing as they did way back in the 70’s and 80’s.
In Conclusion, Gordon Matthew Sumner (Sting) is my hero because he is inspirational, caring, kind, a risk taker, and helps so many people. He is a nice person and volunteers his time for many organizations. That is also a great reason why he is my hero. He is also interested in music and was in my favorite band EVER. Sting is an all around good person and that’s why he is my hero.
