Brave, hardworking, and willing. These are some traits heroes should have. Coming from a poor family and into the limelight, Gabby Douglas has made a long journey. This all around Gold medalist has worked hard and has pushed herself to her best ability. Some may know her as "The Flying Squirrel," for her amazing height on the bars.
Coming from Virginia Beach, Virginia Gabrielle Douglas made it to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. At the Olympics Gabby and her team placed 1st and took the Gold with them. Gabby alone earned 1st All-Around, taking the Gold again. She is the first African American, indeed, the first woman of color of any nationality, to win the gold medal in individual all-around gymnastics. Inspiring many and showing kids that hard work pays off, her dreams finally came true.
How did Gabby become a legend? Her sister Arielle begged her mom to have Gabby join gymnastics. Her mom finally agreed and now watches nervously in the audience. Her main support would be her sisters and mom. Some others that support her are her friends and teammates, along with most of the crowd.
Being a gymnast myself, Gabby Douglas has inspired me to try my hardest and focus in my gymnastics. She is a hero because she shows that she cares by putting all her effort in her practices, meets, and even to her fans. Gabby inspires me to train to get to the Olympics and follow my dreams. Gabby says "Never give up and always keep fighting, because though times may be tough, the sacrifices do pay off, so just keep pushing towards your dream and just love it at the same time and enjoy it."
As you can see Gabby is hardworking, brave, and willing to do all she can in her gymnastics career. No matter how hard it was for her all she did was believe and keep trying. Yes, indeed she has made a long journey to become what she is today, and that's why she is my hero and a hero to many.
