My hero is Mel Gibson. His full name is Mel Columcille Gerard Gibson. He is an actor, director, producer and writer. He was born on January 3rd, 1956, in Peekskill, New York. He was born with a physical anomaly called “Horseshoe Kidney," which means that the two kidneys are fused at the base into a U shape. He is the sixth of ten children. Her father is Hutton Gibson and his mother is Eva Mylott. The family also adopted one child, so the total number of children are eleven. One of his younger brothers, Donal, is also an actor. Then the family moved to Australia in 1968 when he was 12 years old.

He started his career as an actor in Mad Max (1979). He became an international star when he played in The Road Warrior (1981). In 1987 he played a goofy rogue cop in Lethal Weapon that made him Hollywood’s leading young blue-eyed, action hero. Then he starred in Air America (1990) and The Patriot (2000). In The Man without a Face (1993), he directed and starred in the film. He won an Oscar for the best director and the best picture for Braveheart that he directed, produced and starred in as an historical hero.

In 2004 he directed The Passion of the Christ that is a film about the last twelve hours of Jesus’ life. But, from it came many controversies from many in the public that did not like its severity. Like my country, Indonesia, the film didn’t show in many cinemas because the government thought there were many scenes of hardness. I was really disappointed because I have watched it and I very much liked it. Although it is a religious film, it has many morals and values of life. Also, all the scenes were done very well. Jim Caviezel, who starred as Jesus, played his role very great. I believe that he could do it because of Mel Gibson as a director. He directed, co-wrote, co-produced and self-financed $25 million from The Passion of the Christ. The movie grossed $611,499,420 (USD) worldwide and became the eighth highest-grossing film in history. It was also nominated for Best Music, Best Cinematography, and Best Make-Up at the 77th Academy Awards.

He inspires me to do more than what we have to do, but we have to do the best that we can. We can develop it as we do it. He also inspires me to always study hard to reach my dream.
