Jane Goodall

by Stephanie from Cheyenne

Would you like to learn about a hero? In this story I will be talking about my hero, Jane Goodall, but first I am going to be talking about what I think a hero should be. I think a hero should be caring. I don’t think honesty should be a problem. I think a hero is someone you can trust. I don’t think a hero is someone like Superman. They don’t have to be able to fly or have super powers. I think they should be giving and creative all in one. That is my explanation of a hero. Now let’s got down to business...

Jane Goodall was born on April 3, 1954. She was born in London, England. She grew up in Bournemouth. That is on the southern coast of England. When she was a school girl she wanted to go to Africa, because she fell in love with Tarzan. That was only one of her dreams. When she was in collage she decided to work with chimps so she took a course on them.

Jane Goodall is a very kind person. She always wanted to work with chimps. Now she does work with them. She has put aside land for them. She has stopped them from dying out. She found out things we did not know about them. If she did not do all of that, I don’t think there would be any more chimps.

When Jane Goodall was young she had one goal in life. That was to work with chimps. Jane Goodall made her dream come true. She lived with them to make her dream come true. She has done many things to make sure her job was to work with chimps.

One of the main struggles Jane Goodall has had was when she went to Africa. She had a hard time settling in and getting to know the animals because it was a new area for her. After a while she got really close to the chimps through everyday contact. She had a very hard time leaving the chimps, which was another struggle.

I think without my hero, the respect for the chimps would be lost. Without my hero there would be no good information on these animals. People would not know all the things chimps can do because no one would do the research at the time, so they would have died out before any else had the chance to study them. I think they would be extinct if Jane did not do research on them because they would be taking away the things they needed. That is my story on Jane Goodall.

Jane Goodall learned that
Chimps used tools
She did not think of
Them as fools

She though and she wrote
She spoke and she read
She did not let it go to
Her head

She tossed and she turned
Because she had learned
That she had the
Courage to stand

She loved them to where
She did care
Like they were
Always there
