My grandfather - My hero

Nowadays we have many heroes. They can be anyone, from a movie star to a relative. By "hero" I don't mean a person with powers, I mean a person who inspires you and motivates you to become better. Either we know him or not, each one of us follows the example of other persons. These may be good examples or bad ones. For me, "hero" is the word that describes wisdom, kindness, bravery and tolerance. My hero is my grandfather, he is a truly admirable person who, not only inspires me, but also amazes me every day.

My grandfather was born on November 15, 1921 and his name is Raileanu Teodor. He is the father of 4 children, one of them being my mother. He got married at the age of 25 and maintained his marriage for 70 years. He is 95 years old now, but he is still lucid and he still remembers every moment of his life. He has something that few people have: the wisdom of the time. He participated in the Second World War. Initially, he was enrolled in the Romanian army, where he served his duty in Bucharest. Then he was discharged and he had to walk home. Just like that, together with a fellow, he walked all the way from Bucharest, Romania to his home. They walked around 600 km by foot. Then he was again recruited by the Soviet army where he was wounded during a battle. He stayed in a hospital somewhere in Czech Republic and then he was transferred to a hospital in Tbilisi, Georgia for rehabilitation. After the treatment he was discharged and he finally came home to his family. Although it was a long time ago, the memories of the war are the ones which have been patched into his memory for eternity.

My grandfather is a very strong, brave and independent person; he survived the war and the times after it. Now, he gives us pieces of advice that have a lifetime of experience behind them. He tells us stories about the war and the times he was a young soldier and is always happy to see his table full of people that are listening attentively to his stories. He is a true hero because he makes me trust the humanity and makes me believe that good people truly exist. Also, the fact that he fought in the war makes him a hero, a hero of the country.

In conclusion I would like to mention that all of us need a hero, need someone to inspire us and guide us to the right path. So, if you have the opportunity to talk to your hero or you have him in your everyday life, living and breathing beside you, you should appreciate him and listen to his advice. Furthermore, I would like to say that we all should love and cherish our families, because they are truly and entirely devoted to us and they will never harm us. Also, choose your hero right; he should be a good example and he should guide you to the right path, not the wrong one.
