A true hero (St. Petersburg Times)

A hero is someone who accomplishes a challenge using qualities that are inside of him or her. Some of these qualities are courage, faith, perseverance, and hope. A hero can be a boy or a girl, a member of any race, can practice any religion, and can be any age. There are no boundaries of whom a hero can be.

An example of a hero is Justin Gregorich. Justin is a 14-year old boy from Clearwater, Florida. On the afternoon of January 28, Justin was walking home from school; at the same time Raymond Kane, an 82-year old man was driving his 1999 Lincoln Town Car to see his daughter, who died in a car accident. While Raymond was driving, he suddenly fell asleep. The car drove off the road and almost hit Justin. The car then hit a fence and fell into a pond. Justin hesitantly went to help, landscapers Michael McBrayer and Shawn Brady also went to help. As the car fell into the pond, Raymond finally woke up. The three men helped Raymond out of the car and onto shore. At the scene of the accident there were three adult men that did not help, Justin helped and he was just a teenager.

Justin made a difference that day because he saved a life. Justin is not that athletic; he is an average swimmer and is an aspiring football player. If Justin was in a group of people, not many people would choose him to be a possible hero, which is why Justin is a great example of a hero.

In T.A. Barron’s words, Justin is both a "Hero on the Spot" and a "Hero Within". Justin is a "Hero on the Spot" because he literally became a "Hero on the Spot". He did not do something that took a long time; he saved Raymond’s life (with some help of the landscapers) in just a matter of seconds. Justin is a "Hero Within" because he is just an average kid, not many people would think he would be a hero when they saw him. Finally on January 28th, that hero that is within him finally came out.

So in conclusion, a hero is someone who accomplishes something using qualities of character. A hero can also be anyone; Justin Gregorich defiantly is a great example of a hero.
