Wayne Gretzky

Wayne Gretzky made the transition from pro hockey star, to a great hero. He helps to raise funds to cure arthritis and contributes to many other causes. Wayne arranges for thirteen minor hockey teams across Ontario to recieve a total of fifty thousand dollars to be spent on ice hockey and equipment. Wayne and his father Walter have set up a foundation to help needy causes. One of the causes is the scholarship fund to help aid the blind youth attain a post secondary education. Wayne Gretzky has translated his life from being an ice hockey star and celebrity to a real life hero.

Arthritis pain and development is a growing problem in society. Wayne Gretzky had to retire from his great hockey career due to a problem with arthritis. Wayne has now started a foundation to help raise funds to help prevent and cure arthritis so others don't have pain. This is one of the factors that makes Wayne such a great hero by dedicating his life to making other's lives better than his. His organization is helping people find ways of managing thir arthritis. I think this is really amazing that he would dedicate his life to making other people's better than his! He used his celebrity status to make people listen to the problems that people living with arthritis have and to convince people to give money to the cause. Not just any person could step up and help cure others. It took someone that people could relate to and trust, before people could understand about the real life problems associated with arthritis. Wayne Gretzky helped the Arthritis Foundation by giving his name and a face people could relate to and trust. For the many people suffering with arthritis, this makes Wayne Gretzky a hero!

Helping children by helping to cure arthritis, donating money and equipment and helping kids in getting an education. All around, Wayne is doing a great thing for the next generation. He is a great influence by using his money and celebrity to help everyone around him.
