My hero is: Lin Hao. A History Maker Of all the things that Chinese people know, perhaps none is more miserable than the earthquake on 12 March 2008.And since then we know a boy that saved his classmates in this earthquake .He is the most famous history makers named Lin Hao. Lin Hao was the monitor in Grade 2 at Ying Xiu Center School. He was having a math class when the earthquake happened. While he was running out of the classroom, the wall fell down and he and his classmates were stuck .To make his classmates clam down, Lin Hao started to sing songs with them. The hunger for survival made him keep on creeping and finally he climbed out of the teaching building. But he didn’t leave, on the contrary, he came back into the teaching building and began to save his classmates. When a reporter asked him why he did that, he answered that he was the monitor in the class and it was his duty to save his classmates. For me.He is not only a hero, but also a history maker. Since his achievement was well known by Chinese people, it exerted a big influence in society. I started to be involved in charity and willing to help strange people who are in trouble. The things Lin Hao has ever done have awakened the goodness of me.

When it started to get late and everyone was starting to go inside. I stayed back and was still swimming when it happened. My little sister was to young to go swimming. Well, she saw me swimming and decided to try it herslf. When I came out of the pool to jump in and my little sister jumped in with me. I did not notice until I turned around to find her splashing on the surface of the water. When I finally reached her she was so tired that she could barely keep her head above the water. I grabbed her and pulled her to the stairs of the pool. When she was out of the water my mom came and brought her inside. For those five minitues I was a hero.

My hero is: KRISTINA GREY.
"My Super Sister"

CHILD HERO:

KRISTINA GREY

My hero is my stepsister Kristina Grey. She is a person that is spontaneous and a good role model. She is thoughtful and great to talk to. She's not disrespectful and listens to what u have to say. And I love her for that! I do not know anything she has overcome herself but I know plenty she has helped me overcome. She has cheered my up when I was down. She brought the real me back around. She comforted me when I was alone. She was a good friend the only one I know. Do you have anyone in your life that does that? Kristina's motto in life is to "just be you and nobody else." If she knows I'm acting weird or not myself she'll know what to do to get me back to normal. When my stepsister Kristina goes through changes she is known to give in sometimes. She's not the toughest person in the world but she adjusts to things in time. Other people that might think of Kristina as their hero are my other sisters or maybe even her classmates in school. Out of my sisters Kristina and I are the closest to each other. Maybe because were only stepsisters and the same age that's why we get along so well. She’s not like anyone else I know. She's not rude or mean. She's funny and fun to hang out with. And she always keeps it real! Kristina has changed my life dramatically! She has helped me grow into a more mature young adult. Helped me forgive and forget. And has always and will always be here for me!

Laniyah lives at home with my mother, brother, stepfather, and myself in New Haven. I have lived in this neighborhood all my life, but I am looking forward to moving away and raising my daughter in a better environment.

My daughter is important to me because she has taught me so much. She has made a big difference in my life. I want to go to school now because of her so I will be able to teach her what I know and the ways of life. Laniyah has made me be more independent and patient.

Michelle Majid - Michel THE HEROINE... from from , , , Ghana, West Africa- - 8/2/2004 3:44:00 PM
My hero is: MICHELLE MAJID-MICHEL . On the 6th of April 04, I went to my Grand Aunt’s house. I had vacated from school and had nowhere to go. Auntie Nayoka dropped Judy and me at Auntie Chris’ house in the morning and she went out at 11:20am. At 12:15pm a thief jumped the wall. The dog saw him and started barking. When the thief realised that the dog had alerted the people in the house, he ran to the back of the house. All that while, I was standing on the porch looking to see if the house help had come.

When I saw the thief, I panicked. I quickly drew the curtains and locked the doors. I pulled Judy into the guest room, locked the door and pulled the bed to block the door. I started crying and asked God why He was doing this to me. Before the thief had come, Judy and I where watching a COSBY show on a videocassette.

After Judy and I had gone into the room, the thief managed to enter the house. I found out that he had entered the house because the video went off and I started hearing the local TV stations. I told Judy that to be on the safe side, we would have to run away. But the thief came to knock on the bedroom door occasionally. When I had assured myself that the thief was gone, I took hold of Judy’s hand and opened the door. But Judy was afraid and because of that we had to enter the guest room toilet before running out. When we reached the kitchen door, we quickly unlocked it and ran. When we got to the gate, we heard the kitchen door slam again and because of that, when we got to the gate, we threw the padlock down onto the floor and ran. Outside, some men who were around asked us where we were going and we told them all that happened. I asked the guard if I could use his phone to ring my mother. The guard also rang the police after my call. My mother and my auntie also came and I narrated the whole story to them. I just thanked God that they did not find any fault with what I did and they also praised me for showing responsibility by thinking of my sister before myself. They were so proud of me. Thank God. And Daddy, if this story or tale, as Mummy put it, gets to you, I hope you will be proud of me. This is a REAL story. I LOVE YOU. Signed Michelle Majid - Michel THE HEROINE...

My hero is: NA. I think that a hero should have many different qualities. They should be loyal, caring, helpful, kind, and trustworthy. My hero has all of those qualities. She is my friend, Na. Na was always there for me. She would always help me with any problems I had and could always keep a secret. That is why she is loyal. I think that a hero should have many different qualities. They should be loyal, caring, helpful, kind, and trustworthy. My hero has all of those qualities. She is my friend, Na. Na was always there for me. She would always help me with any problems I had and could always keep a secret. That is why she is loyal. I always knew Na would help me with my problems or a question I couldn’t answer. She was always really helpful. She would always help me answer questions I had. I would always get cards from Na even when it wasn’t a special occasion. She was so caring. If I was sad she always knew what to do to make me feel better. I always knew Na would help me with my problems or a question I couldn’t answer. She was always really helpful. She would always help me answer questions I had. I knew Na would never tell any of my secrets or do something she knew I wouldn’t like. She was very trustworthy. I could trust her with anything. I always knew if I told her not to tell something she wouldn’t tell it. Na is my hero because she has all of the qualities a hero should have. She is a great friend and never lost any of her hero traits, even after going into foster care. I bet it was very hard for her. Her life changed a lot, but that is why she is my hero.

Mikael from from Indianapolis, , Indiana, - - 8/2/2004 3:40:00 PM
My hero is: RICHARD A. CASH . He's pretty cool for a little brother. But he got his fury from me... He's like me only younger and doesn't care about Yu-gi-oh. But we're still the same when he laughs I laugh etc.

He has done a lot for me. He was with me every time I needed him. I think I need him more than he needs me. I miss when he's gone...

Ricky is my favorite hero because he loves me and I love him. He's my favorite hero because he helps me when I need it. He's only 10 but just one glance and it's like"wow he seems nice."I'm sentimental because we're best buddies!

We're best buddies because we care about each other. We look out for each other. Why because we care about each other we're brothers that's why.

bert from from dalton, , georgia, usa- - 8/2/2004 3:38:00 PM
My hero is: Phu Tran.. My hero is Phu Tran. He has changed his name to Tony Tran recently. He helps me. Sometimes he lends me money, and then I pay him back later. We are great friends. We are always partners in class unless the teather choose our partner. Sometimes we are lucky and end up as partners. Sometimes he has an answer to a problem when it serious. He is a great guy.

We help each other in problems. He's got a long memory, so he remembers a whole lot of answers to questions. Friends make great heroes because they know you and you can trust them. He's a great helper because of his long memory and his knowledge of video games.

We met in second grade as far as I could remeber. We were in the same class. When we were at P.E, I asked him if he knew Chinese. He said he knew how to speak Chinese. I spoke some Chinese to see if he understood. I was suprised he understood and was more suprised when he talked back. I guess that's when we became friends.

He helps me often now. We also know more about each other. He is really Vietnamese and Chinese. He's only half Chinese. He said he's also a samauri, but I'm not quite sure I believe him.

Friends are great heroes. They help you in difficult places. That's why I consider my friends my heroes. They help me a lot so I chose them as heroes.

And am blessed and grateful to them for that.

Pauline Tibbertsma from from Gold Coast, , Queensland, Australia- - 10/10/2002 3:17:00 AM
My hero is: Iqbal Masih. Iqbal Masih was four years old when he was bonded to the village carpet maker. A sickly child, he spent much of the next six years chained to a loom, which he worked fourteen hours a day, six days a week. He was fed just enough to keep him functioning, and was beaten more often than the other children at the workshop, because, unlike them, he defied the master time and again, refusing to work and on occasion attempting to escape. For punishment children were often hung up by their ankles and caned. Stories are told of situations where, when a child cut himself with the sharp tools, the loom-master shaved match heads into the wound and set the sulfur on fire. He didn’t want the child’s blood staining the carpet.

At ten, Iqbal managed to escape and secured help from the BLLF, who gave him a place in a primary school. However, he did not forget those he had left behind. Iqbal instead began to help the anti-slavery movement. At 12 he had helped liberate 3,000 children from bondage. He was subsequently honored by the International Labor Organization, in Sweden; by Reebok, which presented him with its prestigious Human Rights Youth in Action Award (for "his courage and ingenuity in righting a centuries-old wrong") in Boston in December of 1994; and by ABC News, which featured him as its Person of the Week. During this television session he reminded the world that "the world's two hundred million enslaved children are our responsibility."

In Pakistan, Iqbal was not popular amongst the politicians and industrialists. They smeared his name and frequently threatened violence that the boy dismissed, saying grown men would only harm a child as a last resort.

That time came. On the evening of April 16, 1995, Easter Sunday, Iqbal Masih was shot dead while visiting relatives in a rural village. The police reported it as a chance occurrence, although his father insisted a conspiracy.

The murder was never solved.

Still, Iqbal's memory will never die in my mind for truly I can say that never has a story filled me with such purpose and such shame at the same time. This young boy inpsired nations because he dared to dream, he dared to fail and he dared to try again. For that, Iqbal Masih - the late 12-yr-old carpet weaver from a country on the other side of the world - will be, eternally, my hero.

Samantha from from arlington, , wa, usa- - 9/4/2002 6:26:00 AM
My hero is: My Daughter JadeLynne. I admire mattie and his mother because of their courage, strength and determination. It reminds me of my daughter and what we are going through with her illness. Mattie I hope you get your wish to live to 101! Ill light a candle for you love.

You see my daughter JadeLynne has a rare dwarfism and like mattie has been in and out of the hospital. Unlike mattie she was diagnosed before she was even born. She is very small and her breathing problems are getting worse. Unlike mattie a ventilator will not work for jade. Her organs are too large for her tiny little skeleton. We are hoping for a miricle this year, we have been hoping for a miricle for 5 years. Of course she creates a miricle every time she smiles. Shes only 5 but can not go to school this year because if she gets sick it could kill her. She loves to watch as I sew and make doll and also loves to draw. She is being granted a wish by the make a wish foundation. Its a wonderful thing. Of course I have a few wishes too. I think all of us that have children like mattie and Jade end up with some extraordinary wishes.
