There are a lot of great people in this world but there is one man who fascinates me the most, Howard Carter! This man fascinates me because he is one of the greatest archaeologists in history.

Howard Carter was born on May 9th 1874 in the small town of Kensington, London, England. He grew up in a small home, where he was taught by his father, Samuel John Carter. Howard also had 11 siblings but he was the youngest.

Carter was interested in Egyptology starting at the age of seventeen. Howard Carter's biggest influence was probably Lord Carnarvon because he helped Howard through the search. One of Howard Carter's obstacles was probably having Lord Carnarvon die of pneumonia in the middle of the search for King Tutankhamun. Howard Carter achieved a lot in his life but the biggest thing Howard achieved was finding the tomb of King Tutankhamun in the Valley Of The Kings.

There are quite a few character traits that Howard Carter displays but I chose to highlight his optimism and responsibility. Howard Carter displays optimism because he had big hopes for the future. He also has responsibility. Howard Carter needed that to be in King Tutankhamun's tomb. I also want to add perseverance because he dug for 14 years and he never gave up. He finally found King Tut's tomb and when he walked into the tomb, one of the assistants asked what he saw when he opened the tomb and Howard exclaimed "Wonderful Things". It took him 11 years to get all the wonderful things in the tomb sorted, cleaned and preserved.

He influenced me to become an archaeologist when I'm older because his job just fascinates me. Just the way of finding artifacts in different countries looks like so much fun!

In conclusion, Howard Carter was a great man and I hope one day, you will also choose him to be your hero.
