In addition to her bravery, Helen Keller was a fighter. After Helen was diagnosed deaf and blind, she didn't accept it very well. She had a really bad attitude and threw a lot of temper tantrums. Due to her behavior, Helen's mother sought help. Her mother visited Dr. Michael Anagos, who suggested a woman named Anne Sullivan. Anne gladly took the job and met Helen on March 3, 1887. Anne started teaching Helen how to read by tracing letters on her hand. She now knew how to use the alphabet through hand signals but did not know what the words meant. When Helen was seven, she started responding and understanding things. All of Anne's teaching had paid off and Helen and Anne now had an unbreakable bond.
