"If there is a choice between being honest and being kind, always be kind." -Heidi McSweeney

I have always thought of my mom, Heidi McSweeney, as a very great person, and now after research, I think of my mom as a hero I strive to be like when I'm older. She is a very great person because of all of the selfless things she does for others. I would really like to be a teacher when I grow up and my mom had a great path to teaching success. This is a reason I would like to be a teacher like my mom. My mom had a great life and did many great things through her school years and then during her teaching years. I would love to be a teacher because you get summers off, and breaks to spend time with family. This job is a great job to have if you love working with kids and like spending time with family. These are two things that I love.

Being a teacher sure would be a great job to have. Being a teacher, you get summers off, you get a pretty good salary, and there are many specific jobs you can do in education. You could pick a certain subject to teach in education like mathematics or English. If you like teaching children, you could become an elementary school teacher and teach all subjects. To become a high school teacher, you must have a bachelor's degree which is just completing college. Also according to the Occupational Outlook Handbook on average a high school teacher makes $55,050 annually. The salary is very good for getting many breaks and getting summers off. According to the occupational outlook handbook for Elementary school teachers the average salary is 53,090 and you need the same qualifications as being a high school teacher. This is a great job for someone who likes to spend time with family and loves to work with children. This is a perfect job for my mom, Heidi McSweeney.

Heidi McSweeney has always been a very upbeat and generous person. These are great traits that go well for a 4th grade teacher. She is great with children and loves to be in the classroom imparting her wisdom on the young ones. According to her fellow teachers, she is a kind and loving teacher, which makes her kids great people and ready for the fifth grade. These are important traits needed to become a successful teacher. During High School and college my mom worked very hard and earned her bachelor's in 1982 in economics and master's degree in education in 1984. My mom then got a teaching credential at Cal State Fullerton to become a teacher in 1986. She was a part of the High school and College Volleyball teams. She played outside hitter for the Dana Hills Dolphins and played Defensive Specialist for the 18-0 University of California San Diego Tritons. After getting a job as a teacher at Arroyo Vista Elementary School she was so very happy and loved the job. After getting the job everything has gone uphill. She has gotten many raises and has a stable job. She still works as a fourth grade teacher and still loves her job.

Other than educating young children, my mom also helps out in the community and helps with many high school sports events. Being the generous mother she is, she always helps out in all the basketball fundraisers and often times works in the snack bar during basketball games. Recently on October 18th she was the supervisor of the whole entire Capo Valley High School Firewood Sale that managed to raise $8,000. Heidi McSweeney is a very generous lady and she always tries to make me a better and more generous child. She often says, "If there is a choice between being honest and being kind, always be kind." This quote is a great piece of advice and it really shows how much of a generous lady my mom is. This shows that my mom would rather make someone happy than make someone know the truth. My mother's co-workers often say, "She puts family before everything." It is very true also. This is the reason that she is such a great mother.

I would like to be a teacher when I am older just like my mom, Heidi McSweeney. I need to take the proper classes in high school and college. I also need to make the right decisions in life to end up like my mother. In High school I don't need to take the hardest classes but what I do need to do is get good grades and be good enough to get into a good college. In college I would love to be an economics major as well to have knowledge of economics like my mom. I should fully understand all basic courses so I can teach those courses to the children that I will teach. I should take accelerated English classes and accelerated mathematics courses. In college I would like to go to University of California Santa Barbara or Pepperdine University. These schools are very good schools and I plan on majoring in economics. I then plan on going to a local state school and getting a degree in education so I can be able to become a teacher. My mom has been a great inspiration to me and she has set a great example on how I should live my life. She has taught me always to be a great person and to go out of the way to make others feel good. Because of my mom I have a great plan to be successful and a great man.
