Harriet Nahanee was born in British Columbia, Canada, and died February 24 2007. She belongs to the Pacheedaht who are part of the Nuu-chah-nulth from the Vancouver Island. She married into the Squamish tribe.
One of the reason why she's my hero is because she's an Aboriginal rights activist and an environmental activist, which I think is pretty cool. She was also a protester and even went to jail for two weeks because she protested against the Sea-to-Sky Highway expansion at Eagleridge Bluffs.
Harriet was horribly treated in the Ahousaht Residential School and Alberni Residential School and later on she even testified so that the people would stop doing what they were doing.
