Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live on a wooden boat? Well, Horatio Nelson did. Today, you will be learning about Nelson's childhood, struggles, major accomplishments and his heroic virtues. Here is some basic stuff about Nelson's childhood. He was born on September 29,1758 in Burnham Thorpe, Norfolk. Nelson was the sixth out of eleven kids in his family, and his family was very poor. Nelson joined the navy when he was twelve (his uncle was the captain of the ship).

Here are some of Nelson's struggles he went through over the years. In the Battle of the Nile, he had helped capture Corisco, but in the process, he lost his sight in his right eye. Nelson had later lost his right arm in the Battle of Santa Cruz. For five years, Nelson was inactive from fighting and was very frustrated that he was getting half pay during that time.

These are some of Nelson's major accomplishments over his lifetime. Nelson was known in the navy for his bold action, and his ability to fight in battle. While he was in the battle of Trafalgar, Nelson had successfully destroyed almost 23 ships single-handedly. Under Nelson's control, England's navy proved supreme over the French.

These are some character traits Nelson showed over his life. Nelson showed bravery everyday on the ship because he risked his life for his country. Nelson showed his smarts when he planned out attacks that were mostly successful. Nelson shows he is fearless because even when he had one arm he fought like he had four arms.

Nelson is a hero to me because even when things got hard, he served his country as good as he could. Nelson is also my hero because he showed that even through disabilities, he still tried to help people. He shows many traits like brave, smart, and fearless. Nelson had many accomplishments and heroic virtues over his life. Nelson showed his heroism because England still uses his famous quote, "England expects every man will do his duty." Learning about Horatio Nelson makes me realize that even if you have struggles, you can still reach your goals.
