My name is Lily Karen Hernandez Graciano, and I am 14 years old. My school is called Colegio Columbia, it's located in Tampico, Tamaulipas, and I'm in 8° of junior high-school. I know that a hero is someone who motivates you to continue, who cares for you. Someone that is considered "biggest and the most wonderful" to you. That the only thing you want is to try to follow his steps, so in the end be like him or her. The person I would talk about is a famous writer, poet and biggest person that created stories for all ages by his own way, called Horacio Quiroga. Horacio had a life recurrent by tragedies and violence, all this influenced so much his form of writing and the always appearance and obsession with death so marked in his stories.

Quiroga began writing under the period of Modernism; however Quiroga loved the attraction of the jungle called "Misiones" located in the northern of Argentina; this occurred in 1903, where most of his best stories occurred. Horacio Quiroga was born on December 31, 1878, in Salto, Uruguay, but on February 19, 1937, Quiroga had to go and stay in the hospital because of a stomach pain. Five months later , a doctor said to Horacio that the cause of his "pain" was cancer. That day, Quiroga left and walked around the city; at midnight, Horacio killed himself with "cianuro" a toxic substance.

Horacio is my hero because he was remembered as the person that subjected his themes to drama and pointed out man's weaknesses and failing, but he also emphasized the strong and heroic virtues of courage, generosity, and compassion in many of his best stories. The difference he made in my life was in the way I like to write. I have to focus my message on the letters and describe with intensity, so my stories would make a mark on the reader, as Quiorga did on me.
