| Harriet Tubman as a slave (The Freedman Institute ()http://www.freemaninstitute.com/Tubman.htm) |
Have you ever had to hide to stay alive or work in the fields everyday? Harriet Tubman did both.Harriet Tubman had a big family. Harriet had struggled almost every day since she was very little. She had accomplished great things. she has many reasons to be a hero. Harriet Tubman is an inspiration to us all.
Harriet was born in 1820 through March 10, 1813. Since she was a slave they did not record her birth. Harriet was born into slavery. She started slavery at the age of 5. Harriet Tubman lived in Dorchester County, Maryland. Her original name was Araminta Ross. Her nickname was Minty. She had a mom named Harriet Greene, a dad named Ben Ross, four sisters and four brothers. (Geni ).

Harriet Tubman had many struggles but they did not make her weak, they only made her stronger. Harriet struggled with slavery and dealt with narcolepsy while trying to stay away from slave catchers and slave patrol. She had no education and did not know much. Harriet had also suffered a severe head injury which gave her problems through her life time, due to getting hit in the head with a heavy metal weight (Wikipedia).
Harriet Tubman accomplished many things in her life. She saved about 300 slaves using the Underground Railroad. The Underground Railroad is a network of routes and safe houses used in the 19th century by enslaved people. (History Net). Harriet Tubman was a Union spy during the Civil War and escaped 19 missions into the South. She was the first woman to lead an armed expedition in a war.
Harriet had heroic bravery and quiet bravery. She had heroic bravery because she fought slavery and never gave up, even though she could have died doing it. She was determined and brave for doing what she did. Harriet had quiet bravery because of all the slave tradings she had to go through like when her three sisters and little brother were traded. She stayed strong. Harriet Tubman is a role model and a good example. She stood up for what she believed in, even when it was difficult. It takes a lot of character and bravery to stand up for what you believe in. She is an inspiration to me because she didn't let fear get in the way. The world today could use more people like her.
