Tony Hawk

by Seth from Altoona

Do you you have a hero? I do. My hero is Tony Hawk. Yes, Tony Hawk, professional skateboarder. You may wonder why he is my hero. I’ll tell you why.

Tony Hawk

Tony Hawk has influenced me over the years ever since that day when I was watching the X-games. I saw Tony nail the 900 spin. He set the world record for the hardest trick ever landed. I knew that I wanted to be like him. So I bought a skateboard and started practicing!

Tony Hawk just didn’t influence me to skate. He taught me and others around the world to be kind, polite, and to enjoy what you have. Tony then went to another X-games competition, and I watched it on TV. He won again and that encouraged me to skate even more. I learned to skate well, and best of all, he influenced me to be a good sport.

Last but not least, Tony is like a father to me. He may be only on TV and he doesn't know me, but I love him. He has influenced me a lot and I’ve not just learned that he landed the 900. I don’t care if he’s a star and only fans who go to his skate contests get to see him in person. I believe just the TV image of him influences me. I don’t care if he has video games made of him. All that matters is he’s my hero, and nothing can make me think otherwise!

That’s my hero. I know that you may have thought before I told you this that he was just another skateboarder trying to get fame. You were wrong. He is more than a skateboarder who is famous for landing the hardest trick in the skating world. He is my hero.
