“I won't quit skating until I am physically unable,” Tony Hawk once said. Tony Hawk’s dream was to be an amazing skateboarder, and now he’s the best in the world. Why? Because he didn’t give up. He persevered and fulfilled his dream to be an amazing skateboarder. So don’t give up on your dreams, because the only way to fulfill your dreams is if you work hard and do your best.

May 12, 1968 in San Diego, California, Tony Hawk was born. Tony’s parents’ names are Frank and Nancy Hawk. Tony had a brother Steve and two sisters named Patricia and Lenore Hawk. When Tony was 8 his mom brought him to an Olympic sized pool, he decided he had to swim the whole length of the pool, but when he didn’t he got so frustrated with himself that he had to be psychologically coaxed out. When Tony was nine his brother gave him a blue fiberglass skateboard called a banana board.

Tony contributed a lot to skateboarding. Because of Tony Hawk, many more people skateboard these days. One reason he is so good is every bit of free time he got he worked on skateboarding to get better because he loved it so much. Tony was one of the youngest skateboarding professionals in the world. When he was twelve he joined the Bones Brigade, when he was 14 he turned professional, and by sixteen he was the best skateboarder in the world. Because of Tony beginning to skateboard, his dad Frank opened a skateboarding association called the National Skateboarding association (NSA). Even though Frank died in 1995, the NSA still lives on. Tony contributed many skateboarding tricks to the sport of skateboarding like the 720, which is where you go up in the air and spin two whole times.

Some problems that Tony Hawk has are he is getting older really fast, which means he is getting a lot more fragile. Another problem that Tony hawk has is he has three kids and a wife to support. One more problem that Tony Hawk has is he has broken many bones in his life skateboarding so it is getting harder for him to skateboard because his bones are getting too tired because they have been broken so many times.

Tony has won many awards in his life. At age fourteen, Tony was sponsored by Dog Town skateboarding, which meant he had a sponsor so he can enter competitions like the X Games and more. By fourteen Tony was pro and by sixteen Tony was the best skateboarder in the world. Tony Hawk has invented many skateboarding tricks in his life like the airwalk, the 720, the frontside cab revert, the stalefish, and the ollie 500. Those are some of the awards that Tony has gotten in his lifetime.

Some of Tony Hawks traits are he was determined to be a great skater but is not entirely clear where all of his determination came from, but some of it no doubt came from his father Frank. Tony Hawk was so frustrated with himself that his parents had him psychologically evaluated at school. If Tony didn’t skate his best even when he won after the competition, he would take his trusty cat Zorro up to his room to be alone.

(An important lesson that Tony Hawk taught is to not give up, to stick with your dreams, and that you can do anything that you want to. Just don’t give up and do your best)
